The Western Equestrian Society was formed in 1985 to promote the Discipline of Western Riding to the standard as practised in the United States. The aims and objectives of the founder members have certainly been achieved as a significant number of members have gone on to compete, officiate and judge at competitions throughout the UK, Europe and the United states.

Click on the WES icon to go to the WES UK website. It's full of useful information and will keep you up to date with all the latest news, but don't forget that all WES members receive the quarterly national journal and also an E-newsletter for those with access to the internet.

WES promotes the sport from pure beginners to the very top level.  You can start with any breed of horse! Members participate with breeds as diverse as shetland ponies to world class quarter horses; with arabs, appaloosas, cobs, thoroughbreds and a wide variety of native breeds participating in many of the regional shows and also at the prestigious National Championship Show.

In addition the Society has built up an enviable reputation for well organised, professionally run events.  All WES Approved events must be run by formally trained officials. You'll find that they're not only knowledgeable but also have a welcoming and friendly attitude to participants and are only too willing to assist those new to the Western discipline.
